AUDITION INFORMATION

ABOUT THE SHOW

Welcome to Schoolhouse Rock Live! and thanks for your interest in auditioning.  Schoolhouse Rock Live! is a high energy, 45-50 minute kid’s show where all four performers are on the stage singing and dancing the entire time.  The show will be performed for kids in grades K-5 in their auditoriums, gyms and cafeterias however we are also open to the possibility of performing at museums, park districts, libraries, etc. and even public shows for families.  We will be are looking to have a rotating cast of 6-8 performers to be a part of the Boston touring company. 

 

 

AUDITIONS

We are looking for strong singers who can move and have fun on the stage.  Please prepare 32 bars of an uptempo song.  You may be asked to stay to learn a short dance combination and/or a song from the show.  If you are asked to stay for the callback women should be familiar with  A Noun Is A Person Place Or Thing  and Interplanet Janet.  Men should be familiar with Verb: That’s What’s Happenin’.

NOTE: Adult actors of all ages, ethnicities,  abilities, gender identities are encouraged to audition!

 

 

REHEARSALS

Rehearsals will be based on actor availability.  There will be approximately 8-12 rehearsals.  Rehearsals could be in the evenings or Tuesday/Thursday mornings in September.

 

 

PERFORMANCES

The show will be performed during the 2019-2020 school year (October 2019 – June 2020). Actors must have availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays during school hours (typically about 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) and must have their own transportation.  As part of the company you will be contracted to learn one or two roles as well as stage manage the show from time to time which entails operating the pre-recorded music, helping to run a sound check, and possibly doing a pre-show speech and/or leading a post show discussion.  Performances on any other day of the week or at any other time will only be booked if all of our actors are interested and available.  Performances will not be booked with less than three weeks notice without the consent of all people involved in that particular performance. 

 

PAYMENT

Actors are paid on a per show basis.  Compensation for travel may also be paid for travel over a certain distance from home.

Please note that callbacks will be the same day as auditions during the last hour and a half. 

 

Walk ins will be seen if time permits.
